Boss
Stock No 2395
English Oak carved Boss or beam cap, circa 1480. It has deeply incised foliate carving with a flower head and two seed pods at its base, and the projecting head of a crested bird at the top. There are the original peg holes for fixing this item in typical angled position. The top half of the back has been cut down at some later time in a stepped manner, presumably for reuse in some other way.
