Carved Fragment
Stock No 2382
English Oak Aumbry door, circa 1530., of superbly executed carving and design, depicting a Ciborium within a Gothic pointed arch, and flanked by a pair of Dolphins. The spandrels to the top of the panel are carved with a bird to either side. The scaled effect carved onto the pillars is typical decoration of this period in England. This piece most probably served as the door to a niche cupboard cut out in the church wall and would have housed the churches valuable plate such as Chalices etc. The door has been reused and has later indentations on the back.
