Two Carved Panels
Stock No 2370
Two English Oak carved Panels, circa 1537. One has the head of a Cherub, set within foliate decoration simulating wings, with tendrils coming out below its chin to run beneath a shield which is dated 1537, and down into attenuated foliate work beneath it. In essence, it is a highly stylised Renaissance “Green Man”! The other panel is richly decorated with a superbly executed central leaf which holds the design together. It has lost about a centimetre of its left hand framing.
