Ceiling Boss

An English Oak Roof Boss, circa 1480, made from two sections with original joining strip. There are traces of the original red gesso on top of which, which this Boss would have been covered in Gold Leaf. It has a strong deeply incised design of what looks like a stylised Aquilegia flower in the centre with leafs in each corner.
