Carved Fragment

Fine carved Gothic fragment in Cedar Wood, probably Italian, circa 1460 to 1480, possibly from a frieze. The design is superbly proportioned with large quatrefoils with Gothic arches interspersed with miniature quatrefoils. It appears to have been polychromed originally, and there are a few traces of green and red paint which look to be of the period. It is likely that this was part of a frieze to an external Church porch.
