Pair of Carved Panels
Stock No 2256
Outstanding pair of Oak carved panels probably from Germany , circa 1600. They depict male and female monkeys feeding on fruit below stylised Oak trees. These are allegorical and refer to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, with the Tree of Life and apples. They would have been part of a set as a dado in a panelled room There are old wooden reinforcing straps to the back for conservation purposes as one panel has had some splitting.
