Armchair
Stock No 2067
Primitive Oak Armchair, circa 1780. Probably Welsh, as indicated by the nature of the patination of the timber. It has a monumentally thick chamfered seat above which is a transition style back with a tapering central splat and simple curved arches cut out of the top rail on either side. The arms are completed with scrolled terminals which are held in place by rudimentary chamfered pillars. The legs are pretty basic with draw knife shaping. Over the years it has probably lost two to three inches in height.
