Coffer

Late Elizabethan English Oak panelled Coffer, circa 1590 – 1600, of excellent colour and strong design. The moulded top is above a three panelled front each panel decorated with a whorl within a carved lozenge, and separated by muntins decorated with strapwork. The top rail and outer uprights have fluted decoration and the bottom rail is decorated with a running notched motif within horizontal moulding. The panelled sides have their original wrought iron carrying handles.
The hinges have been replaced as have a couple of the bottom boards.
